Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is an innovation in aesthetic medicine for treating the appearance of acne scars and fine lines and improving the skin’s overall appearance. Microneedling creates tiny injuries in the skin, which stimulates the production of skin-healing processes. The skin’s repair process results in the improvement in the appearance of wrinkles, scarring, and dark spots with little down-time and minimal discomfort. This service is provided by our Nurse Practitioner and Dr. Griffin.

Vivace Microneedle RF

The Vivace is a next-generation radio-frequency micro-needling device that delivers immediate, long-term results. The minimally-invasive treatment stimulates the natural production of collagen. This has been proven to be effective in minimizing facial wrinkles and fine lines, as well as toning the face, neck, hands, and body. Unique in its design, depth of treatment, precision, and holistic approach, the Vivace Microneedle is truly best in class.

Absolute Precision

Other micro-needling rollers and pens can cause tearing, pain, and highly variable results. The Vivace’s 36 gold-tip needles and robotic step motor create fast and even insertions in the skin. The robotic depth settings offer 31 precise, multilevel adjustments down to a depth of 3.5mm at 0.1mm increments. This is more precise than any other RF micro-needling device.

Unrivaled Power

Vivace delivers more power than any other technology. The chevron-patterned, 70-watt circuitry Vivace Microneedle distributes heat evenly and delivers skin tightening while reducing the redness, hot spots, burning, and discomfort that can occur with other devices.

This treatment is available at The G Spa Los Olivos.

Frequently Asked Questions: Vivace Microneedle RF

What does a treatment feel like?

Once the skin is numb, you may feel light pressure that tells you the device is doing its work. Most people find the treatment to be comfortable with virtually no downtime.

How long does it take?

The actual treatment takes about 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the area, with an additional 30 to 60 minutes needed for numbing.

What is my recovery time?

The microchannels created by The Vivace remain open for a limited time providing an opportunity to supplement the treatment with serum or PRP (platelet rich plasma) that creates optimal results and faster recovery. Using the right products our clients are ready for a night out, with very little to no indication of any treatment that day.

What is RF?

Radio frequency is a form of electromagnetic energy that provides heat to stimulate collagen production which has been found to lead to tighter, younger-looking skin. Combined with state-of-the-art micro-needling, patients experience optimal results.

How many treatments will I need?

Most physicians find that three to four treatments, spaced two to six weeks apart, provide the optimal experience for patients. While the results are often immediate for skin tone and texture, there is also improvement over a three-month period as the process of collagen regeneration increases over time.

The Eclipse MicroPen

The Eclipse MicroPen is a dermal micro-needling device that can be used on all skin types. This micro-needling device’s high-speed motor allows for a more efficient and timely procedure, with little downtime and great results.

For your Skin

Each patient has unique skin needs and requirements. With the MicroPen, your practitioner can customize a treatment for the best clinical results in your skin. The Eclipse MicroPen treatments can lead to the appearance of improved skin tone, fine lines, and any skin imperfections. Most patients are red for less than 24 hours, which means minimal downtime. You can have the treatment on a Friday and be ready to take on Monday with a fresh face.

For Your Hairline

If you are self-conscious about your thinning hair, the Eclipse MicroPen is a non-surgical hair restoration option that stimulates hair growth. The treatment, called Platelet Rich Plasma therapy can help regrow and thicken hair without surgery or drugs in as little as a few months.

EMSCULPT NEO treatments are available at the Santa Barbara office.

Frequently Asked Questions: Eclipse MicroPen

What is automated micro-needling?

Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for treating the appearance of fine lines, hair loss, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance.

During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin, and in the case of the scalp to stimulate inactive follicles to produce hair growth.

Microneedling also creates superficial micro-channels which can be used with topical gels, creams and serums to help improve the appearance of the skin.

Eclipse MicroPen™ is the most advanced medical-grade automated micro-needling device on the market.

What are the benefits?

The benefits of microneedling are a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging.

Eclipse MicroPen™ also has a positive effect on hyper-pigmentation as well as on hypo-pigmentation, acne scars, enlarged pores, traumatic scars and stretch marks and generally creates a fresher appearance or glow to the skin.

What areas of the body can I treat?

Eclipse MicroPen™ can be used on all parts of the body – face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

How is the procedure done?

A sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen™.

Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate setting based on your unique needs.

Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.

What does it feel like?

The feeling associated with the Eclipse MicroPen™ is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin.

While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating needle tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating gel also makes the treatment more tolerable.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.

What is the downtime?

Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin.

The total healing time depends on the Eclipse MicroPen™ setting used and the number of overlapping passes your skincare professional performs. On average, patients are red up to 2 to 4 days. Many patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours.

Utilizing the Eclipse Dermal Recovery System™, or other quality skincare products, provided by your skincare provider, can help to speed up the healing process.

When will I see the results?

Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues.

How many treatments will I need?

Some patients only require a single treatment, once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart.

For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6 week intervals.

Before & After: Microneedling for hair restoration

Eclipse MicroPen is also used for hair restoration. During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin, and in the case of the scalp to stimulate inactive follicles to produce hair growth.
